FrontLane’s Ultimate Accident Checklist

FrontLane’s Ultimate Accident Checklist

With nearly 6 million car accidents occurring each year (nearly 16,440 per day) in the United States, it is common that we will all experience an accident during our driving life. FrontLane is all about “Safety First. Always.” but sometimes, the inevitable happens and we want to make sure you are prepared.

Stay Safe

Your top priority after an accident occurs is to make sure you and others are safe. If possible, safely move your vehicle off the road and turn on your hazard lights. Finally, a very important reminder – never leave the scene of the accident.

Communicate With All Involved.

Once the scene is safe and all have been checked for injuries, it is important to speak with the other driver(s) involved to collect important information such as their name, email address, phone number and license plate. Also be sure to take note of their vehicle’s year, make and model along with their insurance information (company and policy number).

Gather Other Information for Your Insurance Provider

Your insurance company will want to make sure they have all the necessary information to process your report. To help the process along, document all the details by taking photos and gathering much needed statements from witnesses in addition to the police report.

Important information to collect includes:

  • date/time/conditions of the accident
  • names of involved parties
  • witness names/contact information
  • license plates of involved
  • vehicle damage of all vehicles
  • injuries

Millions of car accidents happen each year. As drivers we need to prepare ourselves for the potential experience none of us want to have. If we do experience a car accident, we must make sure we are prepared and stay calm during the process.
